The word "gin" is a diminutive of "genever" from the Old English, derived from the Dutch "jenever", which in turn has its roots in Latin "Juniperus" – the main raw material of the beverage. Used for medicinal purposes since the Middle Age, the mix of juniper, anise and other spices was transformed into a kind of brandy by the Dutch in the 17th century, possibly becoming popular in England when Prince William of Orange of the Netherlands took the throne. Gincenso brings the invigorating aromatic gin qualities to the most ancient and mysterious fragrant ingredient in the history – incense – at once building a translucent and smoky, intoxicating and contemplative aura.
